The Jokowi Presidency in Indonesia (2014-2016): Reflective Assessments

Abstract
This short talk will discuss the ways in which we can assess the Jokowi presidency over the past two years. Several reflective assessments will be presented by taking into account the achievements and failures of Jokowi presidency in Indonesia in dealing with domestic and international challenges. In this talk, Siti Maesaroh will also give a brief assessment on the Indonesian women issues under the Jokowi presidency.


​Biodata 
Dr Priyambudi Sulistiyanto is Senior Lecturer at School of History and International Relations and Academic Director of Jembatan, Flinders University, Adelaide, Australia. He is a political scientist with teaching interests in the areas of Indonesian politics and comparative politics of Southeast Asia. His current research looks at the politics of reconciliation and local politics in post-Soeharto Indonesia. His publications include Thailand, Indonesia and Burma in Comparative Perspective (Aldershot, UK and Burlington, USA: Ashgate, 2002), with Maribeth Erb and Carole Faucher, Regionalism in Post-Suharto Indonesia (London and New York: RoutledgeCurzon, 2005), and with Maribeth Erb, Deepening Democracy in Indonesia: Direct Elections for Local Leaders (Pilkada) (Singapore: ISEAS, 2009). His articles also appeared in Pacific Affairs, Australian Journal of Political Science, Third World Quarterly, Journal of Contemporary Asia, Sojourn, Indonesia, Kasarinlan, Inside Indonesia and Dignitas.
